Basic Pole Swag 9207, 9218 Print

This pattern was revised in 1999. If you don’t have the latest pattern you may return your used pattern for a new one at ½ price. If your pattern is unused there is no charge, except shipping cost.

What is the difference between the 9207 and 9218?
The only difference is the swag depth. The 9218 will hang deeper.

What is the difference between the basic pole swag, and the designer pole swag?
The basic pole swag is more casual. The fullness is scrunched in by hand and tied. The designer pole swag has a 10” overlap. It can be pleated or gathered.

Can I pleat the basic pole swag?
No. Pleats do not work for the construction on this swag.

Can I alter the basic pole swag to be much wider than 54”?
You can read chapter 6B, in our Workroom Manual, to create a gathered swag any size or shape. We cannot instruct you by e-mail or fax.

The droop area is too deep. How can I shorten it?
Instructions are included in the pattern.

Can I use a 1” pole instead of 2”?
Any size pole can be used. Small poles will create more droop area.

Is it possible to attach puddle panels instead of jabots?
Yes, you can use the jabot pattern for the top shape, or you can make the panel separate and attach to the pole.

I need a swag width of 43” the pattern has cutting lines for 42” and 44” which do I use?
Go in between the lines on the pattern to get your exact size.

I want a wider overlap than 3”, so I gathered the swag ends to be 6”. My droop area is 9”. What did I do wrong?
You gathered to 6” instead of 3”. This does not make the swag wider. It only makes the droop area deeper. Pole swag patterns are designed for a certain overlap size. To change the overlap size, would require a different size of the overall pattern.

I have tried everything to get scrunching to 3” and I can’t do it.
Your fabric is inappropriately thick.

I altered the jabot to be 72”. How do I cut the pattern so that the 18” deep swag will fit the jabot?
Alterations to the jabot do not affect the swag. It is the TOP of the jabot that sews to the SIDE of the swag. Look at the illustrations in the booklet.

I am using the typical wood brackets and the jabots are on front of the pole. I need a return. What can I do?
Advice about returns is written in the instructions. If none of those work for you, you will have to do a “custom cut-out “ return. Instructions and patterns for this are in our Manual Collection.

My client would like me to use the basic pole swag 9207 with sconces instead of a pole. Do you have suggestions of how I should connect each swag piece and the jabots?
This is shown on the last page of the instruction book.

I have a long pole. Can you tell me where to put support brackets?
If you are using “L brackets” you should place them close to a swag or jabot so they can’t be seen but they should not interface with how the jabot and swag should hang. It will be best to plan the placements for the brackets after the swag is attached to the pole.

I need to make swags that will be hung on rings and mounted from the ceiling. There are three swags with a pair of panels (panels also will be hung on the same ring). Starting at the left side, the distance from ring to ring for the first swag is 52 3/4”, 45 1/2” for the middle, and 53” for the right. The designer wants the airspace to be 3” and the depth of the swag 18”. Will I be able to use pattern 9207” Is a finish of 54” for the left and right swag be okay? And the FW for the middle at 47”? Any tips on how to finish each end to hang on the ring? Also my idea for the panels is to make a draw string and pull it tight, which will be behind the swag.
I don’t understand how you intend to secure it to the rings, especially the panels. We have some new patterns, called Medallion Swags. They will work better than the 9207. Read about them on our website.
