Balloon Shades 2 9222 Print

This pattern was revised in 1999. If you don’t have the latest pattern you may return your used pattern for a new one at ½ price. If your pattern is unused there is no charge, except shipping cost.

Can I add a trim to this shade, and how do I do it?
Yes, trims can be stitched into the seam, as per the ruffle, or you can glue or sew fringe to the bottom edge after Step 7. The fullness of the shade will billow over the edge, short trims may not show very much.

Some of the shade styles call for a 9” decking, what is that?
Decking is another word for “facing or hem”. It is needed on the shades that have the relaxed sides because some of the backside will show.

I would like to have a contrast fabric inside the pleats. Does the pattern allow for that?
Yes, look at page 17 for instructions.

My shade will be stationary. It will not pull up and down. Do I still need to put a rod at the bottom?
Yes, this is needed to stabilize the width at the bottom of the shade.

I want to put a pleated balloon shade on some French doors. When pulled up and down often, will they fall correctly and hold the shape?
No! All balloon shades will need to be dressed each time they are pulled. Consider a Hobble shade.
