Can I alter the swag?
We cannot give you instructions to alter the swag in width
or depth. To go beyond the sizes given would require the shape
and size of the pattern and the pleat angles to change. There
is no formula for a quick fix.
I do not understand how to figure for my swag size.
Can you please explain it to me?
Please see our How to
Read Yardage page and scroll down to “Figuring Swag
Size”. This is explained in detail.
I am considering the Estelle for a bay window. Will
it work?
Yes, the Estelle works great for a bay window. You will need
to make a bay window mount board. Plan for a horn to be at
each corner. Subtract 5 1/2” from each end of the board
only. Make the valance as one piece. The outside swags may
need to be different sizes from the center ones.
Is the Estelle pattern very different from the Squire
pattern 9213?
The Estelle is the same as the Squire, except there is no
center dip. The swags depths are shorter on the Estelle and
the horns are slightly different.
Should I use 3 or 2 swags on the Estelle? The board
width is 50”, minus 11” and divided will give
me either two 19.5 or three 13” swags. Your pattern
says to stay within 14” to 18”. Which would you
suggest?
Make 3 swags at 14”. Allow the outside gathers to be
tighter, giving the extra room needed for the swags.
I have a decorator who likes the look of the Squire
Valance 9213, but the depth requirements don’t match.
Would it be possible to shape the bottom of the Estelle to
fit this look? The longest point is 18”
and the shortest is 12”.
Yes, you can shape the bottom by adding the Squire dip.
I would like to know if I can use the swag of the
Estelle with the horns of the Classic Empire Valance, 9284?
My customer likes the horns that extend over the board, but
does not like the swag so full.
Yes! The Classic Empire Valance pattern shows you how to fit
the horn to other patterns.
Do you sell a pattern for the Estelle on a pole?
Yes, very close, the Squire Pole Swag 9271.
Could cording be inserted along the bottom edge or
would this negatively effect the drape of the pleats?
It is alright to use cord and other trims.
